f427 - rAra h 9 (Peanuts)
Test details
This test is useful when a peanut allergy is suspected, LTP cross-reactivity, and to identify the specific molecule that has previously caused a positive result in the associated allergen extract test.
Ara h 9 is a non-specific lipid transfer protein (nsLTP) present in the peanut allergen.
In addition to symptoms associated with oral allergy syndromes, individuals sensitised to Ara h 9 are at greater risk of systemic symptoms and bronchospasm.
The diagnostic accuracy for peanut allergy of anti-Ara h 9 IgEs is limited due to cross-reactivity among LTPs; however, they can be useful in diagnosing allergic symptoms caused by cross-reactions with other LTPs found in pollen and fruit.
