f428 - rCor a 1 (Hazelnut)
Test details
This test is useful when a hazelnut allergy or a PR-10 cross-reactivity are suspected, and to identify the specific molecule that has previously caused a positive result in the associated allergen extract test.
Cor a 1 is a heat-labile protein found in the seeds and pollen of the hazel tree (Corylus avellana). It belongs to the PR-10 protein family and presents high cross-reactivity rates with the pollen of Betulaceae and Fagaceae (Bet v 1 and similar).
Individuals sensitised to Cor a 1 present symptoms related to oral allergy syndromes (OAS), including itching of the mouth, redness of the oral mucosa or angioedema of the lips, tongue, or throat.
Cross-reactivity may also occur with allergens from alder (Aln g 1), apple (Mal d 1) and peach (Pru p 1).
