Test details

Recommended for patients with suspected autoimmune movement disorders or paraneoplastic neurological syndromes. Positivity for anti-CARP antibodies may be associated with paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration.

Carbonic anhydrase–related protein VIII (CARP VIII) is located in the cytoplasm of Purkinje cells and plays an important role in regulating calcium homeostasis.
